Studying in France means accessing quality training accessible to as many people as possible. The cost of higher education in France and the registration fees in French public higher education establishments are relatively low compared to other countries.
So before you go to study in France, one of the things you absolutely need to know is the cost of your studies.
Cost of higher education in France
The French Government will cover the cost of learning in most pubic tertiary institutions. The registration fees will be similar to those for 2018/2019, namely:
For French or EU students
- 170 euros for a year in the Undergraduate phase;
- 243 euros for a year in the Master’s phase;
- 601 euros for one year of engineering training in an establishment under the supervision of the ministry in charge of higher education *;
- 380 euros for a year of Doctorate.
For foreign students
You will have to pay differentiated registration fees if you arrive in France at the start of the 2019 academic year and you register for the first time in a higher education cycle in License or Master. The State will then cover two thirds of the cost of your training. The amount of the registration fees that you will have to pay will be:
- 2,770 euros for a year in the Undergraduate phase;
- 3,770 euros for a year in the Master round;
If you start a doctorate cycle at the start of the 2019 academic year, the State will continue to bear the main cost of your training. The amount of your registration fees will be 380 euros.
The differentiated registration fees do not affect foreign non-EU doctoral students.
Registration fees in private establishments, especially in business schools, are significantly higher than in the public. In general, they reach 3,000 to 10,000 euros per year. Check the website of each establishment to find out the exact amount of the registration fees for your training.
